Fundamentals of Digital Photography  (Certificate Course)

Course Description

Course Details
This intensive course is designed for beginners to digital photography to establish a solid foundation in the photographic process. The course integrates the fundamental principles of digital photography with practical in-studio applications. In the studio and on location, students will work with real models to produce portraits and photographs of the human figure. In the lab, students will gain an introductory level of Photoshop and learn how to efficiently edit photographs.

Topics will include:
      f-stops, shutter speeds, depth of field
      lighting and exposure for digital
      file formats and resolution
      working with Photoshop

No.   This is a beginners course. No prerequisites are necessary.

What you need to bring
These items are the minimum equipment necessary for the class.

      A DIGITAL camera:
                   with a hot shoe mount
                   capable of being operated in a fully manual mode.

      A computer with Photoshop CS2(or higher) installed
             * If you are not able to bring your laptop computer or do not have
             Photoshop CS2(or higher) installed, contact us to arrange other options.

      A memory card of at least 1 gigabyte for your digital camera

      A way to connect your memory card to your computer

      If possible, the instruction manual for your camera


What is not included
The following are not included in the course fees. If you need recommendations for your accommodations or would prefer to rent a laptop computer, we can help.

Day 1 :: Buenos Aires, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

      10:00 - 12:30      Introduction to digital photography principles

      12:30 - 13:30      Lunch break

      13:30 - 14:30      Photo Shoot #1, Introduction to lighting
                                      Location    In Studio, with model

      14:30 - 15:30      Digital file management Part 1, for PC's (MAC's not covered)
      15:30 - 17:00      Introduction to digital image editing software and concepts


Day 2 :: Buenos Aires, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

      10:00 - 12:30      Travel to location and setup for shoot

      12:30 - 13:30      Lunch break

      13:30 - 16:00      Photo Shoot #2/a, How to work with the subject/model
                                      Photo Shoot #2/b, Working with natural lighting
                                      Photo Shoot #2/c, Composition
                                      Location    On Location, with model.

      16:00 - 17:00      Depart location, return


Day 3 :: Buenos Aires, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

      10:00 - 12:30      Image editing, enhancement, and correction

      15:30 - 17:00      Display of student photographs with review of concepts

Cities and towns that will be visited during the course:

    Buenos Aires (Capital Federal)

    Shooting locations to be announced.

       Please note that inclement weather, including excessive heat or cold, may cause shoots scheduled for outdoor locations to be held in a studio.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations are handled as stated below

In the event that we cancel a course due to insufficient enrollment, participants receive full reimbursement of all fees paid.

Cancellation by the client/student must be done through the PayPal system. PayPal is our payment processor. Please contact us by phone or email for instructions.

In the event of cancellation by the student on or after the deadlines established for the course, we retain all fees paid.

In the event of cancellation by the client/student before the deadlines established for the course, we will refund all fees as indicated here. These refunds are expressed as a percentage of the total course price. Payment processing fees and fees associated with the refund are the resposibility of the client. The refunds are as follows:

      1.   30 days or more before course start date - no cancellation charge
      2.   20 days or more before course start date - 75% of total course fee
      3.   14 days before course start date - 50% of total course fee
      4.   7 days before course start date - 25% of total course fee
      5.   2 days or less before course start date - 10% of total course fee
